I know this might sound stupid...but I was looking thru the manual and kinda confused as to how to replace my drivers side taillight. it didnt look so easy in the book. Can anyone give me some pointers?

Ok, my book for the 99 shows that you'll remove the trim covering the area, undo the electrical connector and then the 3 nuts that hold the thing in place - that's all.

This picture is the 4-door, since you didn't say...
Looks like a couple nuts from inside the trunk & a bracket underneath. I'm not sure how you reach the bracket underneath, if you're lucky you can reach up there without removing the rear bumper skin. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...14SDA0_B09.gif |
Trunk lid light easy.
You do have to remove bumper skin to change the quarter lenses. It is up to wether you fully remove the bumper or leave it dangle off of 1 side. I usually leave them dangle so my directions will be for one side. If you want to remove it just do the same to the other side. 1) remove 2 mudguard screw if equipped. You can leave the innermost screw 2) remove 1 long (philips) vertical screw at leading edge of bumper just above the mudguard. This is near wheel lip 3) open trunk remove 2 little plastic caps on bumper, there will 1 per side both need removed and under it will be either a 10 mm bolt or a allen (6mm?) 4) underneath the rear bumper is a line (4) of plastic push pins, use a flat bladed screwdriver to pry the centers of the pins out and then the pins will come out after all the fasteners are removed you grab the bumper skin at the front edge (wheel lip) and pull and it should come unhook from the bracket under the light. reinstall everything in original location. |
