09 Accord EX-L v6 Sedan Rattle/knock?
So randomly today while driving I began to notice a rattling or knocking sound while accelerating right around 3K RPM and I have no clue why..
It always makes the noise at 3K RPM and it doesn't matter if i'm driving or in neutral or parked. I don't notice it when i'm cruising down the highway but it may just be because all the other noises cancel it out making it hard to hear it so I don't know if it's only when accelerating or what. Only thing I could think to check is the oil. The engine is still hot and when I checked the oil the dipstick stayed clean(maybe a little oil on the tip), i'm going to check it again when the engine has cooled. I've read these engines burn through oil fairly quick and oil life is at 40% so i'm hoping it's just low on oil. Anyone know what's causing this? What to check? This is a video from inside the car. I can hear it clearly on my phone and irl but when I put the video on youtube it doesn't seem as clear. You can hear it better when I rev in neutral. I will record another video tomorrow under the hood to hopefully pick it up better. Sorry if i'm not making allot of sense or ramble, it's late and i'm tired |
A loose piece of timing belt or accessory belt might account for noise. Check timing belt by removing upper cover and rotating engine by crankshaft bolt. Accessory (serpentine) belt should be inspected carefully also.
good luck |
