1990 EX tranny/motor mount
It seems on the new accord I've acquired, its motor mount/tranny mount must be completely shot because it vibrates a lot when in drive and reverse, tranny seems fine, but i looked at the front motor mount and noticed some cracking, this thing has 250K so I bet the front one was replaced and rear/bottom was never replaced. Now I need to find out whats the cheapest yet still good mount for this because I read that they combine one mount for tranny and motor in this car.

As for the mounts the OEM mounts go for 30-50bucks each. But if you would like to upgrade them ESP makes a mount kit for $275 for all the mounts but the front. They are polly mounts they are a big upgrade from stock. |

yeah OEM are fine if your just stock. When you start adding power you want to look into polly mounts. They are much stiffer and apply more of your power to the ground...I mean you can use them on a stock engine it won't hurt. They might even last longer than the OEM mounts.
There are 4 mounts total. Your driver side engine mount front engine mount rear engine mount and pass side trans mount. Now on the rear mount there is a bracket to bolts to the trans but it's not a "joining mount" the mount bolts to the engine block itself. |
You say it vibrates when in "drive" so it must be an automatic trans.
If so, your rear mount is vacuum-operated. It's supposed to get softer when idling in-gear. Look for disconnected vacuum hose leading back there. Look for loose/dirty/corroded electrical connection to the solenoid on that vacuum line. Test: Car should be all warmed up. Have someone put it "D" and hold the brake tight. Reach down there & unplug the wire from that solenoid valve. The driver should notice it gets much more vibration. If it doesn't change, then the mount is probably stuck in the "hard" condition for some reason. |
yeah I'll check that, this auto trans already makes me wanna do a manual conversion lol, is it normal but this thing seems to shift pretty hard to compared to other trannys but it performs fine.

I always had manuals, so this isn't really firsthand... but I guess Honda auto-trans always has shifted more harshly then other car-makes. Until about 1998 or so.
