Not sure....pic's might help in finding the source of the "fuzzy stuff"?

I've seen worse.

1. Remove the battery cable(s) and use some electronics cleaner and give it a bath.
2. A light coat of WD40 and let that sit for a while.
3. That dist cap is done (pic 3). Get a new one and the o-ring seal that goes with it......and since you are replacing the cap, replace the rotor.

See what you have from there.

This is the 3rd dist in 2 years according to my Freind I ordered 2 caps and rotors and a distributer I am wondering why this is happening. Car uses oil not alot and runs great until this happens. Hmmmmm

Just me.....you don't get that kind of rust inside a dist in seven months (3 in 24 months).

Just my opinion

So something isn't adding up here....I want to help and I'm trying.

I appreciate that. You helped me b4 and it was accurate i guess best i can do for now is to replace the parts and monitor the progress of detioration. Thank you will post more when i know more.

Again, not sure anything really needs replacing besides the dist cap and rotor.

There is something really weird going on if u look at the reluctor wheel and the pick up coil making some white fuzz that its cycling thru its like there is Electrolysis going on. The rubber around the power wire is disintegrated .something is weird maybe it needs to have a exorcism

poorman212 12-06-2015 08:20 AM

It might need that :)

You are in a "salt air" type of place so that might explain some of the rust/"growth" going on in there

I was just trying to think of ways that might save you from replacing the dist.

You can try "car-part dot com" and see what is close by. Example, Kissimmee Auto Salvage looks like they have at least two ($100 to $125).
