2000 accord tranny problems

I have a 2000 Accord and my tranny jumps from 1st to 2nd only when its cold...I have been told that a transmission flush could do the trick but I dont know. Has any one else had this problem?

Automatic trans?
Never flush a Honda trans. that is a sure fire way of ruining it. Only drain & refill.
If it is an automatic, I hate to tell you but your trans is probably gone. About 50% of automatic transmissions in 98-02 Accords were junk.

If it only does it when it's cold replace the fluid with honda mtf. That may take care of it. If not just let it warm up a bit before driving it.

RE: 2000 accord tranny problems

you're better off getting it rebuilt or if you don't mind spending some extra cash and dealing with a lil headache swapinto a manual...i got mine rebuilt for like 900 and it has 2 year warranty on it so even if it messes up again, the guy will take it out free of charge fix it free of charge and put it back in free of charge but i don't know how much they'd charge where you live...OR if you don't mind going on a grand exploration call around a junkyard and find an accord that was crashed with a manual thats only if you have 2.3L version if you have the 3.0L then don't waste your time cuz it don't exist..when i was about to swap it into a manual the guy offered me the partsfor a total of 1000(manual trans.,shifter, master cylinder, shift link breakage cable, clutch, pedals, computer, etc.)but its just to install was looking at a good 500 - 600 dollars so i said forget it because other then fact that i could turbo it i really didn't see the benefit out of doing it..but like i said you can turbocharge it and whatnot.

Its normal for an auto trans to shift hard when cold or in extremely cold weather. Mine's done it since I've owned it.

i'm in miami so i wouldn't know anything about that...i do know my engine performs a little more then usual in like 52 degrees..is this normal?

and also mine didn't shift gears just my reverse screwed up,whenever i'd put it in reverse the gears would grind like they were struggling but the car wouldn't move....

Thanks...I have not spent the money on a flush yet so thats good. I will just drain the fluid and refill it. You think that might help.

well just try that out and see what happens i know it shouldn't cost you that much...and then if it persists then start calling around junkyards and stuff
