2003 accord 2 litre VTEC tapping noise from engine
I have replaced a dodgy exhaust camshaft reset all tappets and I still have a tapping noise from front of the engine when I put a stephescope on it the tapping is most pronounced on the engine mounting near the cam chain cover I am going to change the chain and tensioner (genuinely honda parts) very soon so I am hoping that will cure it. Has anybody got any other ideas? Cheers

Just know these things do have a "tap" sound to them. So judging a tap sound from the valve area is a hard call.
So again this is hard for me to call.....if the valve lash is in spec, I'd keep riding  I should take a video/sound clip of the wife's 2016 with ~4,200K miles on it....that v6 with direct injection......not as bad as a diesel but close....the 07 Pilot with 156K still makes less "tapping" noise than it does. |
Tap tap
I will go through all valve clearances AGAIN just to make sure. when I do the chain and tensioner. I will also run the engine with the cam cover off (messy I know) and see if I can pin point the tap I shall put some time cardboard either side of the cams to catch most of the splash hopefully I will find the noise and will post back if I locate it. Cheers kwakers:rolleyes:
