Could someone tell me if the whole cam assembly has to be pulled in order to change the cam seal that sits behind the distributor. I was doing a tune up on my car this wkend and noticed that it was leaking oil out of the distributor, pulled it and found that the cam seal was leaking. From looking at it (No manual, I know) it looks as if you have to pull all of the cam caps off in order to install a new one. Any help is appreciated.
I have never personally done it but based on what I know that distributor should be held on by three bolts remove those and pull it straight out, then the seal just pops out and a new one (once the surfaces have been cleaned) can be pushed in. Make sure to line up the distributor right when you put it back in.
Here is a breakdown from the manual (Page 844)

when you say oil is leaking out of the distributor .do you mean from inside the distr or under the distr,,
if from inside the distr , there is a very small seal inside the distr .. and i DO NOT think that you can buy it ,, hONDA DOES NOT sell the distr inner shaft seal. and i do not know of anyone who sells it aftermarket ..if you cannot locate and replace the inner shaft seal, you need to replace the distr sub-assembly
Now if leak is from below the distr all you need is the distr o-ring.. 2 dollars at honda dealer , vwery easy to replace, mark the distr with magic marker so you can put it back on the same spot so there wil be no need to chk timing, remove the 3 12mm bolts, unplug the connectors, remove distr , replaceo-ring, reinstall ..
One final note, distr only goes in 1 way, make sure when you reinstall it, it bottoms out flush.. and there is no gap, between the distr and the head
