94 Accord code 9 error
so i get a code 9 error which when i research it is #1 cylinder position sensor (cyp) i was going to change the distributor and saw a lot of people still having the same problems after they changed the distributor. i been seeing this is one of the most confusing errors and wanted to see where i should start with this problem. Some say check the timing, check resistance on distributor, change the ECU. I'm trying to see where is a good place to start on solving this problem. I have a 94 honda accord vtec engine 5 speed standard and sometimes it has trouble starting takes a few tries and feels like it wants to cut off sometimes. I usually just do a lot of research on problems i have with my cars and fix them that way. i'm new to working on cars not experienced as many are. So please try and bear with me if i don't understand.

I start with testing the resistance per the service manual. After testing the different part, replace those that failed.

i'm going to try that i'm going look up everything on testing the resistance and post back once i get that done. thanx

Testing sequence is first test sensor resistance at the distributor connector. (F22 B1=700-1300 ohms and F22B2=350-700 ohms)
If good repeat test at the ECM connector (same color wires but shop manual essential to identify correct pins). If sensor resistance is good at the ECM, then fault is in the ECM. I had exactly your problem (code 9) on my 94EX and had to replace ECM to fix the problem. good luck |
