94 accord lx engine swap

hey guys. im new to the whole honda scene so i dont know a whole lot about them. i just bought a 94 accord lx with the f22b2 engine and it has a rod knocking in it so i need to do a swap. im wanting to spend as little as possible doing this. i was thinking about putting the f22b1 vtech engine in it. is it really worth it?? is it much more powerful than the engine i already have?? ive read about the h22 swap but its more than i want to do. i dont wanna have to get a new tranny and new axles. if i put the f22b1 in it, im guessing i will have to get the ecu and wiring harness for it too right?? thanks guys

the h22 is not hard at all if you going to do a swap.....get the h22a. if your not going to do an h22 just let your old motor rattle around in there until it dies and then get rid of the car. when you get an h22, you most likely will get it in a pakage. it will come with a tranny ecu axles and even shift linkage with a wiring harness. you will be set... the sohc vtech is not much faster than what your stock motor is supposed to produce but an h22 is quite a bit, and by that i mean a Lot faster.

the reason why i wanna do the f22b2 or f22b1 is because i can get the engine with installation for about $900. how much do u think i would spend doing an h22 swap with installation??

How much are you paying for the engine and where can I get one?

i called a couple of junkyards around here and they all wanted about $500 for the engine. they had about 85,000 miles on them. keep in mind this is the f22b2 engine im talking about. now the h22 will fit right in with no modifying too right? im tempted to do this now.

i think im just gonna stick with the f22 vtech engine. I already have a toyota tacoma and if i sell it and sell my car with a new engine in it, i could get something a little nicer, maybe a newer prelude. this vtech engine will work with my 5 spd transmission right?? will a header and intake from the f22b2 fit on the vtech engine?? sorry for all the newbe questions.

the main reason why everyone is suggesting an h22 engine is the fact that it has a lot more torque then the f22 vtech. Preludes are havier that's why they require the extra torque. the accord are lighter in weight, so putting an engine with a lot more torque into a lighter car means more power gain to the wheels. also the h22 does not require any kind of special brackets or custom cut outs or anyting like that. just take out the f22 and put in the h22, change the tranny, connect everything and you're set.
