RE: 98-02 Accord V6 pros and cons
so is the transmission Guaranteed to screw up or what ?
|
RE: 98-02 Accord V6 pros and cons
you have a 1 in 1 chance :P in all honesty it is highly unlikely for the car to make it 150K on an original transmission.

RE: 98-02 Accord V6 pros and cons
wow that is a VERY surprising fact, i got a question, the car im getting has 134k on it, if i take it to honda after i buy it and ask them to check the transmission
would they change it for me, because i know the warranty extension is 7 years or 100k miles. |
RE: 98-02 Accord V6 pros and cons
did you buy the car new? it is highly likely that a V6 accord with 13x K on it has had the trans replaced. I had a '98 and it ate 3 transmissions within 11K miles.

RE: 98-02 Accord V6 pros and cons
no im buying it used, also what are the symptoms of the transmission dying out ?
and how long does it take to replace ? does honda vie you a loaner car while its getting replaced etc ? |
RE: 98-02 Accord V6 pros and cons
harsh reverse engagement
longer shifts when unit is cold jerking when taking off from a "rolling stop" (you know where you are slowing down but not completely stopped and start to acellerate) jerking when comming to a complete or near complete stop (usually the 2-1 downshift) slippage when accellerating... |
RE: 98-02 Accord V6 pros and cons
not ALL of them are bad transmissions but yes that year/engine of accord is MUCH more prone to tranny problems than it should be... enough that there is a class action suit about it.. as far as how the dealership handles it (loaner car etc.) is all up to the dealership.... Personally I'm scared of the V6 automatics and so I won't own one but not everyone has a bad experience... research and knowledge save you money!
