98 accord v6 tranny

I just bought a 98 accord v6 and i've been told that the tranny are not very good. I have seen some in cardomain and almost all v6 have a tranny cooler. First what does it do and second will this help the tranny last longer and is it recommended. or should i do something else. Thanks!

RE: 98 accord v6 tranny

the tranny can go out at any given time. the 6th gen trannies has a designed flaw. and since you are not under warrenty like I am, all you could hope for is that the tranny does not have any problems. you could always swap out the tranny and put in a dr.evil tranny which runs you about 5k+ for removal, installation, shipping, etc.

tranny cooler would help it last longer, But the thing itself is a time ticking bomb. But hey my dad still got his v6 accord and it got 137k on it and the trans hasbt died on it yet.
