99 2.3L swap to 00 3.0L???
Ok, im thinking bout swapping my i4 engine for the 3.0L v6..... does anyone no how hard this would be.... i no i would also need to swap out the tranny.... but i no it will fit, but is there anything else major that i would need to swap in to get it done?

I believe as ive heard many times thats swapping from I4 to V6 or vice versa is impractical and almost impossible. the engine compartments from the two types are different. the V6 being larger. so if youre trying to put the V6 in the I4 compartment it probably wont fit w/o major modification.

that makes no sense only because they have a 98-02 coupes with v6 in them and they use the same car with the i4

Now, the swap is not the best idea. The 3.0 V6 doesn't make a ton more power, plus you would need to swap in the AV6 tranny, which is absolute crap. The more practical swap would be a J35/37 swap with a CL-S 6 speed manual transmission, but that's about $13k I doubt you have to throw away. |
Yes the 6th-gen engine bay is the same for 4-cyl & V-6 engines. But that's about it.
Problem is that the 4-cyl engine is on the left side of the car, tranny is on the right. But the V-6 engine is on the right with the tranny on the left. You'll probably need a surprising amount of other stuff to swap. Battery & ABS modulators are on opposite sides of the engine bay. Stuff like that, which should be unrelated to the engine swap but you need it all. Since the ABS modulator is on the other side, you'll have to do a lot of brake-line plumbing. |
