99 Accord 4 cyl Timing Belt

Does anyone know if the 4 cyl. engine on my 99 accord is interfering or non-interfering. i haven't had time/money to replace the timing belt and its over 105k. Anyone know for a fact either way? thanks.

It's an interference engine. If the belt breaks, the pistons can hit the valves.

Yeh honda engines depend a lot on the timing belt. As long as you keep it replaced whenever the time comes your engine will be fine. I'd advise you to change yours just to be safe.

You are on borrowed time ,, even worse if you do mostly city driving ,,You have to keep in mind that anytime you are stopped at red lite or behing traffic, odometer will not go up but the timing belt still spins ,, so in reality timing belt has a lot more miles that the odometer reading ..

Plus I wanted to add that even though the belt might not break apart - it does stretch - so as you are driving it further you might experience bad acceleration and/or worse gas mileage
