Adding Performance

Hello, I am looking to beef up my 97' Accord I just got. I did a little search on this forum and I saw that you can change the air filters to increase performance by about 10 horsepowers.

I was looking at thsi http://www.amazon.com/K-N-33-2071-Re.../dp/B00062YIRSand I am wondering if it is any good. Is there another other stuff I should do to increase performance, but I dont want to spend THAT much. Im looking at under 500 total.

Thanks

K&N is a great company, you might just want to replace the whole intake instead of just the filter. there isnt really anyways to add big amounts of horsepower spending 500 or less

500 will get you a intake and exhaust, thats about it.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Is there any intakes and exhaust you can suggest. I am not looking to add an enormous amount of perfamane. But just improve it more. Hopefully push it to the max without having to swap engines or anything.

ya take out your old intake and put in a new one. if you wanna be cheaper with it. buy an intake off ebay use it for awhile and when you switch the filter put a K an N filter or a better filter.

I assume I4 means 4 cylinders right?
If so then it is an I4.

I was looking at home K&N intakes for about 200 bucks. You said buy an intake off ebay, are all intakes the same? Is there a big difference performance wise when buying a cheaper intake off ebay vs. the K&N intakes?

Also, if i do buy the intake, do I need to buy any addiontal items to install it?

Get a AEM SRI or a $30 ebay intake and an APEXI filter.

Not sure if the prices on that site is great so shop around. Also if you want to shell out $280ish I've heard great things about the AEM V2.

You're in luck! The four cylinder engine has lots of options for intakes, the v6 has few.
I have been looking at the venom intakes-I think the difference is filter material;
foam or cloth, plastic or metal filter support material.
Discount auto has a 50 buck universal intake setup, buy it and a high end filter element that will fit it.
Somewhere else in the forum I read a post about plastic tube v. metal tube, and both evidently
have their own merit/drawbacks.
The expensive intakes look way more cool, with the complex bends and mirror finishes.

Thanks for all the reply's. I am lookin into the AEM and K&N intakes.
I am planning to get an air filter first then save up a couple paychecks and then get a cool air intake. Any more cool air intake suggestions are helpful. I will compile a list and then decide which one to get.
