alternator probs ... help
 

I just fixed the head gasket on my 93 accord and the car will not start without a jump or a battery charger then it will idle fine and have full power for a minute or two then when i give it throttle it will start to bog down and start misfiring , when i slowly give it gas it will start to run thru the whole throttle range then it will start to bog down again ... would a bad alternator cause this because it seems when the fuel pump and injectors and ignition coil put more of a draw on battery and alternator it will start to mess up ? the battery light on dash is lit too btw

does sound like a problem with the charging system. if you can take the car up to autozone and have them check your charging system and battery. since you did the gasket you had to remove the alternator and everything. check to make sure its mounted properly and the belt is not slipping. Also does the car die at all when running it?

the car will idle fine but if i start to drive it it will start to bog down almost then shut right off , then when i turn the key again to restart it there is nothing not even clicks.. like battery is super dead

try getting that battery tested or try a different battery to see if everythings ok there. this seems weird since it happened right after a headgasket change. I would point at a timing issue but i dont think that make it not start at all. there was a problem with the main relay from those years but it wouldnt make the engine act up like that to my knowledge. the battery light also does point to charging system.

If the starter doesn't even crank, then look for battery connections & starter connections. You probably had to remove battery cables? Make sure everything is clean & tight at ALL ends of all the battery cables.

Check for dirty/loose/corroded connections at the alternator too. (probably had to remove those?)

Main relay can't prevent the starter from cranking the engine.

A dead battery won't come back to life & then occasionally go completely dead again.

i will go ahead and check those things i'm leaning towards alternator itself pretty sure its not timing cause i was so careful to mark TDC and everything.. but i'll check all the little things first to save me some aggravation if its a simple fix , thanks guys
