Bad Oil Leak

Alright here it is....just about two weeks ago i noticed a puddle of oil on my timing cover...so we pulled my valve cover off and pulled the spark plug wires out of the cylinders...in 3 of the 4 cylinders there was at least a 1/4inch of oil down in them...so we cleaned the engine off and replaced the pcv valve and the valve cover gasket...it didnt stop the leak....just a few days ago i looked under the hood and there was another puddle of oil on the timingcover...im thinkin it might be a cracked head...does ne1 else have an idea on wat it might be? ne help is appreciated..

The puddle is on the valve cover? When you changed the gasket did you also change the tube seals? The upper seals are obvious but there are o-rings that go on the bottom of the tubes; you have to remove the camshaft to replace them and they are probably the ones that are leaking. If you did replace the lowers then you should have also replaced the cam seal. When the cam seal leaks there will be lots of oil around the timing cover and, most notably, on the small ledge right behind the cover.

I learned the hard way...

What about oil down in the spark plug tubes? It seems like leaky spark plug tube seals aren't going to put oil on the timing cover.

Look somewhere else for the leak. What about the camshaft seal? Balance shaft seals? Or what about the gasket on the oil fill cap?

i was changin my spark plug wires the other day and noticed a good amount of oil in the same area and all over the spark plug boots...white95, is it necessary to take out the camshaft to replace those o rings?

Yes. And you'll want to replace the cam seal also or else you'll have a bigger leak to deal with. You should probably replace the distributor o-ring as well.
