Depends on how much money and time you have to spend. I've seen a V8 put into a civic hatch. Anything can be done if you have enough time and money to custom make parts.
As far as whats readily available I guess a K24a2.
But expect to pay:
$2,000 for engine
$1500 for engine management
$1000 for mounts and axles
and a million other parts.
As far as cheaper than that, a H22 is popular.
