Cabin Air Filter Replacement
 

2000 Accord LX V6. Need to replace the cabin air filter, is it behind the glove box? The parts guy told me if it was never replaced, I would have to cut the plastic cover off. What are they talking about? Any help, pics would be greatly appreciated.

It is behind the glovebox. There's no cutting. Use the search function like I did.

No cutting is involved. The parts guy is a moron. Check out the DIY section. There is a link with pictures in there.

Well on some Honda models they do require cutting, such as the Odyssey, and Pilot...

He probably just assumed all Hondas are that way..

Either way, it's a 10 second job..

On 2003+ it's a quick job, but it's very differenton a 6th-gen ('98-'02). You might want to point that out in your wiki article.

On his 2000 he'll need to remove a half-dozen screws to actually remove the glovebox. Can't just hinge it down like 2003. And it's a PITA to reach & unplug the glovebox light wire.

Then there's a metal bar across the front. Only 2 screws, but still...

It took me a half hour .... still not a big deal. The DIY pictures help some.

Just did it, very easy. I used Purolator Filters, they did not have the hard plastic frame that the OEM ones did. Fit fine though and I surmise will work well, half the price of the OEM ones. What brand do you use? How often do you change these filters?

I'd like it to be pretty comprehensive much like the local DIY section, but formatted nicer with better pictures and a central location with up to date info, and even notes from owners.

For sixgun's info...
While the newer ones are MUCH easier to change, it's not real difficult to change yours. When you buy a new filter, be aware that it's really a PAIR of filters.
