Can someone explain in lamens terms what VTEC is?

help a little honda boy understand what exactly is VTEC please
and what exactly does it do in my 2005 accord v6

VTEC is variable valve timing. It is a third lobe on the camshaft that the engine switches over to. For accords its more of a gas mileage thing. For civics and preludes and NSXs and Integras and things of this sort its a more aggressive cam lobe that adds power in the higher rpms.

Youtube has a pretty good video on how it looks inside your motor.

Lol it's a good way to describe it! And Mihalis, it does kick in at a certain rpm.
