: ( my car was in such good condition (at least it looked like it) i spent so much on it, untill a couple days ago i was driving and my brakes failed! luckily my ebrake saved me from hitting anything/anyone (thank god) but now its not driveable :( i had a mechanic look at it (my dad's friend works for honda dealer) and apparently the lines fro like oil, gas, breaks, etc under teh car are allllllllllllll rusty. apparently its at least 1000 to fix. :( my mom is thinking of not fixing and just letting my car sit in the driveway forever

What's the mileage on it? If you have a dad/grandpa/friend that is mechanically inclined you can change out the hardlines yourself. The lines on my 95 were pretty rusty too, but if you can get away with just changing the brake lines you'll be all set to drive it again. The mechanic is probably looking to make some money and most of that $1k is going towards labor.

its only 120K :( i myself installed intake, keyless entry, fog lights myself. i also have the haynes manual. do you think i should try it? i havent seen the underside but wat i hear from my dad (who is mechanically inclined but not enough to want to mess with the lines) its really rusty.

I would definitely try to fix it if it only has 120K and the body is in that good of condition. The lines aren't complex to change, it's just that because they are on the underside of the car they are difficult to remove. You might as well replace the fuel filter while you're at it. Also, you are definitely going to need a metric set of crow's feet. (They're like the open end of a wrench, but you can attach a ratchet extension to them.)
