Check engine light on after clutch job?

Hello, I own a 2000 Honda Accord 4 cylinder DX. I just finished doing a clutch job. Took me about a week. Anyways, I test drove the car and when I was getting up to highway speed the check engine light came on and the engine idles very weird (goes from regular idle speed to about 200 rpm and back). What could I have done?

It was running soooo good at first. I even accidently burned out leaving my driveway because I wasn't used to the new clutch. Throwout bearing doesn't chirp anymore. I am just happy I don't have to tear down the transmission again.

Well, you had to remove the transmission, so what about sensors being unplugged & forgot to plug back in??

Anyway, the best thing is to go to someplace like AutoZone where they'll read the stored error codes. Get the actual code number (like P1234) & we can go from there.

I don't know man. I just now quadruple checked everything. Looks good. I will take it to autozone tomorrow and have them read it, then I will post back. I guess i will have to drive my 95 f150 to school tomorrow.

I guess that new clutch scrambled the computers brains.

I guess I have to take it to the Honda dealership to fix it. Only problem is that isn't untill monday that the Honda dealership has their next opening. The engine runs good when it is not idling, so I guess i will just drive it. I forgot how quiet my car is without that throwout bearing chirping madly all the time. By the way, is there anyways I can reset the computer without taking it to the Honda dealership?

Read the error code at AutoZone?

There's a fusebox in the passenger-end of the dashboard. Near the door hinges when you open the front passenger door. Pull fuse #13 for 10 or 20 seconds.

But if you haven't fixed the original reason for the check-engine light, it'll just come right back on.
