Clutch problems on a 2003 V6 accord EX

The Car has 105 000 miles on it and not long ago I began experiencing some rattling noise when driving near walls. I brought the car to a local garage and they diagnosed that the clutch needs to be replaced. I was wondering If anyone had to deal with this kind of problem before, and what are the categories and types of clutches available on the market.

Any help would be appreciated Thanks.

My first guess is to check all of the heat shields on the car. There is one covering the exhaust manifold in the engine bay, and a bunch under the car following the exhaust. They can get bent or loosen up over time causing nasty rattles

Do you do a lot of city driving? A clutch normally wears out between 100,000 and 200,000 miles depending on the driver and driving conditions.

The sounds you're experiencing could be clutch chatter, it usually happens when the clutch has worn down too much and sounds a lot like a diesel engine. The sounds usually happens when first starting from a stop, shifting gears, etc.

I would either get a Honda OEM clutch (from the dealer, not an auto parts store) or an OEM replacement or Stage 1 clutch from an aftermarket company like Exedy, ACT, Clutchmasters, or Fidanza.

EDIT: Here's a good link on clutch basics and types: http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/04...ics/index.html
