Crankshaft Pulley Bolt Removal - Ideas???

I have a 95 2.2 liter and am trying to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt that is torqued to 180lbs+. Timing belt replacement time, first one at 206K milers. I tried wedging a screwdriver in between the flywheel and thought it was working with my extended prybar/socket until I saw the screwdriver bending so I stopped and removed it. My impact wrench only goes to 110 lbs and is of no use. Any ideas to loosen it?

Autozone didn't have the hex tool for the crankshaft dampner. The Honda dealer has one but won't lend it out and says that they won't loosen the crankshaft bolt because it unsafe. Torches come to mind but I'd probably screw that up. Any ideas?? I'm all ears....

The crank turns counter clock wise like loosen the the bolt so I can't wedge the breaker bar and bump the starter to loosen it....I'm lost here. Anyone sell or loan out this crankshaft dampner hex tool????

Thank you for any input.....

I use an IR261. 3/4" impact power. :) But I do em pretty often. A pulley holder and a piece of pipe would be cheaper.

go to a shop and have them loosen the bolt just enough that it is safe for you to drive home and you can then remove it ,, you might have to pay 20-30 dollars ,, if you frequent the same shop for needed work they might do it free of charge ,

Yo CHio ,, that 3/4 inch impact works pretty darn good ,,I named mine BETTY ....that is not a bolt that BETTY cannot remove :D

I think I'd have to take the old school video game name and just call it the "BFG" or Big Fricken Gun....

Here's a "farm boy" way to hold that pulley.... take the old belt, wrap it around the pulley, put a pair of locking pliars on the bottom of the belt so that it locks the belt on there, then have someone hold it or find a way to slide a wrench through the other end of the belt and brace it against the frame, then get a big breaker bar and pop it loose.... this belt/locking pliar setup also works good as a makeshift oil filter remover

you could take one of those chain wrenches but it will almost certainly ruin the pulley. i would say just plop down the 80 bucks and get the wrench. where do you live i have en extra one that i wouldnt mind selling.

or you could have the shop remove the bolt, and then get your car tow'd home. If you have Triple A they tow the first three miles for free
