Degree spec for the timing light at idle?

need some help and hope somebody might know this. I have a '97 accord and noticed that my timing was off. When aimed with the light it showed that it was off by 15 degrees (when set to 15 the marker was right on the right spot with the indicator on the engine). now my question is that in the book is said that it's supposed to be at 15 degrees around 750 rpms; did anyone else perform an idle test and got the same results?

i think its supposed to be 6 degree dtdc.....but its really easy you dont even need to know the degree...at idle when you shine the timing light on the crank pulley, the red mark...not the white, should be lined up with the pointer.

could it also depend on where the car is from? because i live in california and the car came from maryland.

no absolutely not. a car from cali and MD would only be the slightest bit different, and not the timing at all. but as long as you line up the red line with the pointer you will have it timed right. if its off just rotate the ditributor a little to get it right.
