does anyone here have aftermarket pullies on their car?

it seems rare that anyone does, but yea..i was thinking about getting one cause my timing belt is due for a change, and i was looking at the AEM ones, which come as a package, but my mecanic told me its not too good cause the it makes the engine work harder, but i dont see how that is?
its supposed to run better cause the pully is bigger in diameter

"By increasing the diameter of these pulleys, you slow down the power steering, alternator and air conditioning unit, reducing the amount of energy needed to drive them. Significant horsepower gains can be realized with a simple install package that has no recorded effect on emission levels."

anyone have experience with aftermarket pullies?
thanks

i doubt that it will cause any damage since it's underdriven. if you are gonna get pulleys, i'd get unorthodox.

not AEM?
i seem to trust them more, lol
the AEM package comes with the timing belt and all the pullies too, i just found out
but im gonna do some reasearch on unorthodox too

im gonna get pullies soon and i think unorthodox is the way to go. even though aem comes with the 3 piece set, it doesnt necessarily mean that it's better. and yeah, do research on unorthodox, they are a good company.

yea, i read the stuff on their website, seems pretty good...
but i gotta buy all the pieces separately?
and the belt doesnt come with it?
you can get the whole package for 300 bucks with AEM

you can get the whole set for around 3xx bucks. havent heard good things about aem pullies though. sadly, no the belt doesnt come with it. you dont necessarily need all three pieces and i dont recommend in doing so. i'd just get the crack pulley and a new timing belt. if you have a big system than its more beneficial that you get the set, but if not, the oem alternator works fine. even replacing the alternator, you will only get about 1-3 hp to the wheel. IMO thats not worth a hundred bucks. but if you do get the set or just the crank, get the ultra S, the Ultra Ss is a three piece set.

well, if you dont replace the alternator one, my mechanic said you can burn the alternator, cause it will have to move faster to keep up with the crank one, but i dont know if that's true
is it really worth it to have less charging power, power steering, and ac in exchange for more power?

its gonna cost more than AEM, but they seem to know what they are doing more than AEM because of all the percentages and information they give out, but they also dont have the AC pully, only the power steering and alternator

oh, i just discovered something that makes me wanna get AEM even more
Q: Why doesn’t AEM make a crank pulley?
A: Virtually all of the cars we make Tru-Power pulleys for come equipped with a harmonic damper mounted to the crank from the factory. Aftermarket crank pulleys require the removal of this damper, which is required for engine life. Its removal can cause damage to your engine over time by allowing unnecessary Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) to affect engine operation.

yea...i dont think i need the crank pully, i rather have my car's reliablility

hmm, i wonder why AEM doesnt make an AC pulley either, i just hope that its all for the best

there is alot of people on a different site (v6p.net) that has unothordox pullies installed and everything works fine. the ac even works. you cant trust what sites say, it's better to get input from people who have done the mod.

well, im not saying it wont work fine, its just that it will make my engine not last as long
