does anyone use optima battery?
i wanna get one because its a dry cell and its over 150, "you get what you pay for"
so im hoping its worth the money, is it? how long does it last? |
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
A few people on here use them.... I've noticed that people who use them don't ever go back to something else.... Very popular for off road etc too... they seem to be a great battery but I've never personally used one so I can't say...

RE: does anyone use optima battery?
yea, a lot of show cars use them too, i guess because of the red top
|
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
I use one, and they are definatly worth the money, mine has lasted longer then i can remember, headlights dont dim when the bass hits, and they look good. I would definatly recommend buying one.

Absolutely worth it. Had one in my old mazda 626 for 6+ years. Started in the coldest of weather here in N.E., powered my amps beautifully, and It was amazing how fast the car turned over, every time.

RE: does anyone use optima battery?
I would def recommend optima... ive had mine for 5 years and still works like new never had to charge it or anything... its the kind of battery you dont let go when u change cars!!! Mines been in 2 Accords an 87 Chevy short wide and a S-10... definatly worth the extra dough... also mine was in my first accord when i jumped a hill, then blew a tire on way down, hit a tree at 100 mph... and flipped on its top... took it out and put it in my truck worked fine... A+

RE: does anyone use optima battery?
are there any negatives to using a gel battery?
|
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
Nawww Thunder , no negatives..even when the battery finally dies you could probably take the Gel out of it and use it on your hair...
Oui, I think I'm funny sometimes [sm=happy046.gif] WheelBrokerAng :);):) |
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
rofl, gel for hair
can you recharge it after it runs out? |
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
Only Negatives if the drain the battery..U will have to recharge it at 85 amp but ur car can do that. I have a Yellow Top in my Jeep Wrangler for 7 years and still rolling strong...

RE: does anyone use optima battery?
The Optima I had lasted for about four years...didn't last much longer than a standard wet-cell battery. When it failed, it off-gassed a mixture of hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide for about thirty or fourty miles (no other indication of failure). Got home and thought I had a leaking tire...if you hear this sound, don't attempt to open your hood!
Any battery will last longer if you'll recharge it overnight once a month using a 2A or other trickle charger. The term "maintenance-free" was concocted by marketing people who would prefer to sell you a new battery every three or four years. Prior to charging, add only distilled water if the electrolyte levels in any of the cells are low. |
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
and dont forget to add.... you can mount it at any angle ^_-
but yeah, i have a wet cell in the front and a yellow top in the back, had an amp fry itself and not shut off, it drained both batteries, killed the wetcell and the yellow top recharged no problem, only reason the wetcell wasnt replaced with a yellow top or redtop is cause it was still under warranty so it was replaced for free ^_^ |
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
A Batter is a battery as long as the alternator is working properly then the battery should function the same weather it is a optima or a diehard. You pay for the name.
|
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
not when your cold starting. different batteries have different ratings for cold starting abilities. its in CCA, and too crappy a battery will have a lower CCA, become sulfated faster, and will get to the point where it cant hold a charge.
|
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
lasts longer, better starts, looks great, no dirty acid on top of battery, and more durable.
i think those reasons convince me to get an optima. |
RE: does anyone use optima battery?
optimas use a gel-type, not a wet or dry like other batteries. supposedly they can last up to 10 years. ive had my yellow top for over two years and it still holds the 14.5 volt charge.

RE: does anyone use optima battery?
cool, im gonna get one when my current crap battery dies out
