ECU and TCU question

I have 92 Accord with following Specs

Specs
  • F18B VTEC Engine (JDM)
  • F23A Auto ECU OBD2B
  • Old Hydraulic Transmission with Kick Down Cable
  • No Counter and Main Shaft Sensors

As you see car is merger of three sisters and they do not co operate with each other. Result is car runs like crap.

Currently ECU does not see any Counter and Main Shaft Sensor Signals that is why it thinks car is in D and RPM increase but car is not moving so apply slow power to prevent slippage.

The car Cuts ref at 5k which is normal for car in idle.

If i go for gear box change i have to spend some 400 USD. Where as changing ECU costs me 80 USD.

My Existing transmission is in great condition and woks completely.

Question is

What if i change Auto ECU to Manual ECU and give it VSS Signal so that Engine runs fine and Transmission is already running independent of ECU relying on TCU.

1. Would or Should or Could it work?
2. What are Major Differences in AUTO and Manual ECU other than Transmission Control Functions?

Once you start mixing engines, trans, and ECU/TCU, you have become your own auto engineer. No one has the same setup and can give pointed advice.

All you can do is experiment w/ some of the options you select to see if the changes make things better or worse. It could get tedious and expensive.

good luck

Agreed with above. Actually changing the transmission is the worst case. Would try some results today and update here
