expert advice needed
hello accord fellows and moderators,
I own a 1997 accord lx sedan with a tired f22b2. I have a chance to buy a Honda crate short block new old stock. one minor issue is the model number stamped on the crate engine block is F22B5. I know there are some things specific to my car like oil pump for crank sensor etc. I don't wish to modify for performance or anything like that.. just want to freshen the power plant.. I am pretty sure all my accessories ie. compressor, alternator, power steering will bolt up but I am not completely positive.. any advice would be genuinely appreciated. thank you |
Have you performed engine compression test to confirm low compressions due to weak ring sealing? There can be many reasons for a "tired engine" that are easily resolved w/o replacing the motor.
Best bet to avoid surprises when swapping motors is to swap exact motor only. There are plenty of engines available for 94-97 accords. good luck |
"Shortblock" usually means without a head. Make sure that your existing head isn't the cause for any lack of compression.
