f22a1 minor rebuild problems

So i have a 91 Accord LX thats in really good shape and decided to start modifying. I bought an H22 intake manifold and polished the intake runners inside the manifold to hopefully allow it flow a little better. While installing that i replaced the head gasket and all the timing components.

My brother did most of the work, being a mechanic, and he finished everything while i was at work. He was supposed to do an oil change too. I had drained the engine and he forgot to put the new oil in after he was done with the work. He started it up to check everything and after letting it run for about 10 seconds, the oil light came on and he shut the car off. He added the oil and took it on a test drive. Everything seemed fine. The car ran great and the induction sound was an awesome surprise.

That day it started to smoke from the tail pipe alot and it seems im burning alot of oil. A quart almost every week. My question is could he have messed my piston rings up that bad by starting the engine for a few seconds without oil? The car has 113000 mi on it and didnt really consume that much oil before. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot

Welcome new member!
Sorry, but it seems to me very likely that the rings & cylinder walls have suffered.

This thread is probably better in Engine/Internal, so I'll move it.
