Default What are some things I can change to keep the car running smooth.

I haven't started on performance mods yet (Other than the AEM intake.)

Before I do any performance modifications to the car, I want to make sure that everything is running smooth.

I've compiled a list of things to buy, but I'm sure I need some more ideas.

1. Spark plugs
2. Spark plug wires
3. Upgraded battery wires.
4. New battery terminals.
5. New engine belts
6. New transmission filter
7. new oil filter
8. new fluids all around.
9. new battery

1) Hondas seem to like NGK the best.
2) Honda factory wires are $$$$ but they seem to last forever. Really need em?
6) A/T filter is not accessible without removing & dismantling the trans.

3&4) Really? Are they bad or you just want them to be new & shiny? Dirt & corrosion can be cleaned up.

Measure your compression to judge overall engine health. Send an oil sample for analysis - that can also tell you a lot about engine health.

I need the new terminals because I'm upgrading the battery cables/ground to a larger gauge.

And I need the new battery because mine's 6 years old and won't hold a charge at all.

The factory wires are good, and I'm going to try to find a newer pair just like them, but the ones I have on there now feel very dry and somewhat brittle.

Thanks for the tip on the plugs.

I really just want to make sure that I know everything on the car is good before I put any more money into anything else. Just a precautionary matter, really.

OK, valid reasons.

Oil analysis can tell you if you're getting wear metals from the bottom end. So if that's the case maybe you'll want bearings before you do all the other stuff.

Where would one send an oil sample for analysis?
