Fill up problem

I have a 99 Accord 4cyl and whenever I fill up on gas it doesnt go all the way down the fuel pipe. It just lingers in there not wanting to go down and the next day my fuel gauge is at like 3/4 full. Has anyone seen a problem like this b4? I think it may be a charcaol canister or maybe one of the lines are clogged. Any suggestions???

Maybe the fuel sending unit is off a bit?

Have not contacted the dealer about it. Would the sending unit be in the fuel tank?

Earlier this year I had a similar situation. CEL light w/ a P1456 code; cannister shut valve. It took forever to fill up, and the pump would click off like it was full. I replaced the shut valve (don't do the cannister unless you know you have to). It took care of the CEL light, and the fill-ups are normal.

RE: Fill up problem

I had a bad EVAP canister vent-shut valve ('98 Accord). It set off the check-engine light, but mine never did that when filling the gas tank. So... that's not a very strong diagnostic proof of a bad valve.

There's a couple vent lines running alongside the main gas fill pipe. Check ifany of those are kinked or pinched.

Incidently, the charcoal canister (EVAP canister) isn't really about venting the tank during fillup. It's about trapping evaporation from the tank while the car's parked.
