this is prolly a stupid question to ask. but do they make aftermarket gears for an 02 accord auto?

For better acceleration off the line. It will also feel like you get a significant horsepower increase. Example: For most American made V8 rwd cars (and somenon-V8 rwdcars) you can buy higher or lower gears to put in the rear. example: I believe the stock19905.0 Mustang came with 3.08 gears, you could fairly cheaply upgrade to 3.55,3.73, 4.10, etc....

yup. well i knew they made gears for american cars cuz my friend put 4.10 gears in his 1999 gt mustang. so i thought i would ask if they made gears for our poor hondas with not to to good acceleration

yea i know that. but my parents didnt want me to get manual trans for my first car :(

Thats comparing apples and oranges. Those gears are in the rear differential, not the transmission. Most rwd v8's opt for shift kits and high stall tq converters in their automatics.

If you were a 5spd you could possibly get a gear set for an H22 transmission. There are some higher stall tq converters out there for honda auto's but I've never heard of anyone using one of them.

you could swap one in.

Differential ratios are a different deal to the trans ratios. There would be relatively little advantage in changing auto trans ratios, though may be a big advantage for manual box (depending on changes to engine power characteristics and possibly race track characteristics). Mods to autos are more likely to centre around the torque converter, and the TC will tend to 'blur' any problems you might get if a gap between ratios is not quite right for the engine characteristics etc. I doubt there would be much of a market for alternative auto trans ratios, there wouldn't be much demand for race applications (though drag racers might have some interest(?)) or for street, so I can't see 'them' bothering to make aftermarket auto trans gear sets.
