going FI, needing opinions
 

i have a 96 accord lx, with 249k original miles. my first step is going to be a new 2.5'exhaust and convert to obd1 so i can pass nc inspections. my plan is to have a 220ish-whp dd that i can run at the track on weekends. i am going to be on a budget of about 3grand over a 5 month time-frame. i was told that in a perfect world i could run my stock bottom end, stock head and fuel pump and reach my goal of 200whp. i have started to research parts and i have heard good and bad things about bisimoto but found pistons, and rods for a total of $800. the major thing is that the pistons will make me have SUPER low compression (8:2:1). does anyone have experience in this area who could give me better options for pistons?

I have heard nothing but good things about Bisimoto, and that is probably who is going to build my motor. and 8.2 is only .6 lower than stock compression. Also 220whp on a build block is no problem at all, could be done on a stock block but with that many miles and that much boost wouldnt last for too long. 3 grand for a built block and turbo set up? not going to happen, at least not a good one.

lol, sorry should have mentioned that i am going to replace the motor with a re-built one from tigerjapanese, but if i can make 200whp on a stock block and 7lbs for under 3k, why is it not possible to upgrade my pistons and rods for the same budget?

btw im not getting mad just most of my friends who have turbo'd cars have civics and integras so im looking for more help.

well considering to put new rods and pistons in it will cost you $1500 at least in parts and machineing, leaving $1500 for the turbo set up, which a good turbo alone can cost anywhere from 500-1000.

NA to FI conversion will cost over 3000 by itself after tuning, instrumentation, piggyback ECU, injectors and tuning.

For 3 grand, I recommend the swap and a camshaft upgrade.

can i ask how you guys are coming up with your numbers? the bisimoto grp honda aluminum rods are $600, the pistons are $459 and say i spend another $600 on a turbo that comes up to about $18-1900 after taxes and shipping.the motor will be ordered in the next 2-3 weeks and i wasnt including that price in the 3k figure i listed earlier

you got the basics, but you are forgetting a TON of other parts you need

And thats just a quick list, and I dont know all that much about turboing a car. And there are ALWAYS hidden costs.

here comes the newb in me....is the maching needed since it will be on a freshly rebuilt motor? also is there no other system that can be used to chip the ecu?
