h22 vs. b18
 

Hey guys
Been awhile since i been on newho, i dunno if id get my answer off the other post so here it is whats gonna be better the h22 or b18 turbo? cause i hear the h22 wieghs a ton and the front end will slide like a mofo. with the b18 u add a turbo its just as much hp as the h22. ANd prolly cost about the same. Ijust want somethign quick not stupid fast but quick enough so ppl dont expect it i already have headers, exhaust and a true cold air... plus minor stuff too... if anyone knows how much the engines weigh or could find a site i could see the diff in engine weight

dont know the exact weight of the two engines, but the b18 is going to be lighter by 50-100 pounds. now take into consideration that the h22 bolts right into an accord, and the torque curve is best suited for an accord also, the h22 is just a much better option. o and the prelude axles fit into the accord hubs, o and many b18 are cable operated. the list goes on. good luck

I'd also go with an H22. the engine is a little heavier, but you can always change parts to aluminum and light weight materials, as well as doing weight reduction in other parts of the body. H22 has a lot more torque since it's made to pull a heavier car (remember coupes are a lot more havier since the frame needs to be stronger). So you'll defenetly gonna pull a lot with the engine. On top of that isn't the h22 engine equiped with a v-tech?
In a little while, when I'll be doing an engine swap h22 is what i'm planning to use.

excellent choice emex, yes the h22 does have vtec, the b18c1/5 also does.

go with the H22, I just picked up one for my 94 accord, the weight difference wont make that much of a difference, you need the extra torque and hp to pull the accord and they bolt right in, go with H22 you will be happy with it.

i was surfing ebay yesterday, and i actually found quite a few h22 engines for a pretty reasonable prices. it was around 800 bucks w/out a tranny.

accord type r,and euro both have dohc depending on the year it was an h series or an f series 2.0 non-vtec

Yeah I picked my H22 swap off of Ebay for $1000, I went and picked it up so I didnt have to pay $300-$400 to get it shipped to me, mine also came with a tranny, and should have LSD in it and has lower gears put in it. You can pick up some cheap H22's on ebay.

part of me just reeeeally doesnt trust the engines that are being put on ebay, not that there isnt any similar risks getting it anywhere else, but 1000 is still an awesome deal for the full engine and trany

Yeah, I was uneasy to, but this guy lived 2 hours from me so I drove down and it was still in the car, I was able to start it up and see how it ran and see the exact mileage on the engine also. A lot of the companies on ebay say our engines have 10,000-60,000 miles on them, why don't they just say they don't have a clue how many are on them, so thats why I didnt buy from a company, and this guy, only had an intake on it and it wasnt ran hard. He pulled it out for to, didnt charge me.
