oh yeah, broken belt. lets hope that none of your valves got damaged by the pistons when the cams stopped turning in sync with the crank. you can replace the belt and realign the cams and then do a compression check to see if the valves are damaged. no or little compression, you could have damaged valves, good compression and you should be in the clear. Or...you can go the hard route right off and remove the head before replacing the belt to visually check the valves.

yeah it could have jumped timing..that would damage valves and whatnot. for what i said, i was right. you need all those things to have fire..or combustion. low comp. might make it run like ****, but it would run.

so even if there is low comp it would still run?

It all depends on how damaged the engine is. You can lose a cylinder and still run the engine. Also, if another cylinder has low, but some compression, chances are that the engine will still run. Beyond that it's hit or miss.

i would just rebuild it since its gotten abused already...id be surprised if there was no internal damage done to it...shifting to second gear going 80 is definately not healthy for the engine.

tell ur friend 2 give u some $$$ for the things that u need to change, since some of the abuse in the engine, if not all, was cause of his mistake... if he's a good friend he should give u a hand... good luck man

noone can answer that. It depends on the damage .... best case, you just need a timing belt, worst case you need a new engine (damaged pistons, cylinder walls, and head)..... that's the range!

First, you should get a timing belt on there and test the compression. That will give you/us an idea of the internal damage.
