honda accord f22 mini me swap
Hi I own a 95 accord non vtec and am buying a vtec head from the junkyard and rebuilding it for performance and eventually planning on swapping heads for the vtec as well. Ive never really done a job like this and am looking for some of your assistance of what im going to need to do/buy for the mini me swap. As far as ECU and oil lines. Anything thats involved I appreciate everyones input.

Any information on anything ill need helps thanks guys/girls

Not that bad. There is an "orfice" in the deck of the block you will need to remove. New/different timing belt as they are different....I think the cam gear is larger = more teeth.
ECU, check. Run a few wires from the ECU to the vtec solenoid/pressure switch. Pretty much all I can think of right now. |
I plan on putting aftermarket cam and gear in. How would I know what belt is right and is there anything else involved in timing? Timing is something im clueless on. Gonna get help w that. And if you can explain more about this orfice to me?

Am I going to need the ecu out of the other honda with vtec or can I keep my ecu

The oil control orifice is a brass plug located in the center of the engine block surface. You need to remove it in order for enough oil pressure to enter the cylinder head from the block. Without removing the orifice you will not have the proper oil pressure for the VTEC assembly and it will not engage. https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...ine=1386899924https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...ine=1386899924

Even with an aftermarket gear I can use a stock vtec timing belt?
|
Yes, the aftermarket gears are made with the same dimensions as the OEM gear. Unless you buy one that was made for a different engine. If you buy a TB drive gear for the F22B1 you will use the OEM timing belt.
Aftermarket timing belt drive gears are not like the aftermarket alternator and power steering pulleys that you can buy. They don't come in under drive sized. |
Need to know the "plan" of the build. If you are going for an adjustable cam gear, it sounds like you have some slightly bigger plans?
Your 95 is OBD-I which is a good thing because if you are going for bigger plans you will need to get it tuned as stated - and the options for OBD-I vs. OBD-II are much, much greater. If this is where you are going, you might want to talk to the tuner before getting too far so they can give you ideas - sometimes they only like working with certain products. |
