How to do a proper engine swap?

I am a new member, but I just bought a 90 accord and the engine isnt running that great right now... I know of the few engines that can be a direct swap but how hard would it be to do the swap myself? and if I took it for someone to swap it how much would it cost?

If you were going to swap stock for stock I figure they'd charge around 10-16 hours maybe 18 plus the cost of the motor and fluids, if you were going to put in an H22 that's a different story... As for doing it yourself if you buy the motor and have an engine hoist or a couple of guys to help you out it is feasable, just watch your wiring harnesses etc. Cost wise you can get a stock motor slightly used for as low as $600.00 at times and it goes up from there

Yea I was looking online and found a dohc f22 and it was only 900 and its in good condition... how hard do you think that would be? becuase i have some experience with doing and engine swap when we took a b18 out of my buddys integra and swapped the tranny and put it back in... didnt seem too much when i did it... took us about 2 days hard labor and we finished it... do you think the dohc f22 will be hard?

i dont think it would be too hard, the hardest part is probably wiring it all up, but if you are good with wire then it should be easy.

prob looking at at least a grand for a shop to install it.

I'd agree, it's probably easier than an integra swap, wiring diagrams are going to be your friend, If I remeber correctly you can run the car up onto some stands/rams and drop the motor out the bottom with just a floor jack.... You can on the Preludes anyway.
