Expensive swap... As far as tranny life it's all about how you drive it and how well you take care of it. Some people have over 300,000 miles on their origonal tranny.

well, i calculate that it will cost the same as rebuilding my auto transmission, and im getting tired of driving auto

im just going to be getting a new flywheel, clutch, gauge face, and some other things
everything else like the tranmssion will be used, ive found one at the junkyard for 300

That's not bad then... Don't forget your halfshafts, center console, shift linkages, shifter, clutch pedal, clutch cable and possibly a different motor mount.

I bet they'll charge you around 10hrs labor.... so $500-$800 in labor would be my guess... Ever considered DIY?

i have..but it's going to be really hard without the lift and the proper tools for the job
right now my mechanic is looking for his own shop to open up, and im hoping that when he does, he will let me work on my car there so he can charge me less

I've done tranny's/clutches in 1981 Civic's and Chevy Citations with a tool set, two jackstands and a floor jack in a gravel driveway with one person helping me. Takes a bit longer and a little harder than using a lift but if you really wanted to you could do it

lol, i think i'd prefer to have a lift, and if i cant, i would rather pay someone to do it because it's a lot of work and ive never done this swap before
