how to make my car lighter
I would really like to get better mileage on my 87 Accord, with 124,000 miles on it. I know that I can do the basics to help the engine get better mileage, but what else can I do big time. Is there any big heavy metal stuff that I can take out or atleast replace with aluminum? Any suggestions would be great.

RE: how to make my car lighter
Hey!
It all depends on the extent that you want to go do. You could rip out seats, put on expensive light-weight wheels...bla bla bla bla. It's probably a practical car that you use everyday. -I'd start with an air filter - a K&N drop-in. -I recommend 91 octane gas - i've always gotten better gas mileage with higher octane and it's worth the money. Not to mention better starts and a smoother running car. -Not sure if your car is fuel injected..... clean your injectors or carburator. -Check all of your tire pressure. Make sure they are consistent and inflated. If they are low on air it can dramatically decrease your mileage. -Clean your throttle body with spray cleaner There's some stuff to start with. |
