Idle Jumps and car stumbles
 

Hi Everybody, I am new to the forum. I have a 1990 Honda Accord Ex that I love and it takes me everywhere I want to go. It has about 239,000 miles on it and the engine sounds quiet and the engine runs good. The only problem I am having with the car is, when I am at a stop and I just barely pressed the gas pedal the RPMS jumps all the way up to 1,000 - 1,500 rpms. The way to remedy the problem is to put the car in Neutral. I have checked to see if the throttle cable is sticky but I have did not locate any place it could get stuck at. I have changed the IAC to see if this would correct the problem but the problem exist. Is there something else I can check? Throttle position sensor? Also I notice that the car has a stumble when I am accelerating between 1000rpm - 2,000rpm. I have changed spark plugs, cap and rotor and spark plug wires and the problem still exist. Any suggestions and ideas is greatly appreicated. Thank you for your time and help.

have you checked for any vacc leaks ?? any codes ??

another thing to check is your idle control valve. you can take that off of your intake and clean the screen and reassemble it as well. With that many miles it could be a dirty sensor
