Ignition Coil question
Hi there, I just bought my first Honda. It's a 2002 Accord SE with a 2.3l I4 VTEC. Sadly it's an automatic... Anyways, car is in pretty great shape, but the previous owner who only owned it for about 4 months doesn't know any of it's history.
So I'm doing a tune up. Just did the oil this weekend and now, because I'm stationed overseas, I need to order a full tune up online. Problem I'm having is the ignition coil either has the little spring at the end or a solid contact. Here are the two I mean: They are all a variation of those two. Question is, which one should I buy?? Thanks. |
Two things....usually if the coil isn't bad, I would not replace it as part of a tune up....again just me.
Next, memory tells me the coil has a solid contact. |
Replacing coils that aren't bad, would be like replacing a distributor that wasn't bad. You could do it, but you'd just be lining a parts companies pocket. Nowadays, change the plugs, air filters, maybe flush the tranny at the due mileage. Not much else needs be done. (besides regularly scheduled fluid maintenance)
