K and N Air Filter

Hey,

I know the pros, but what are the cons. Can it allow to much air flow that will cause particles to get in and cause problems?

Thanks

RE: K and N Air Filter

There's no such thing as too much air. The air flow is limited by the displacement of the engine. The mosta filter can possibly do is to be a very small part of the total pressure drop thru the entire intake system.

Separate from this, people have said K&N allows more dirt thru, which can be measured as silicates in your oil. That is, if you have oil analysis done before and after installing the K&N. I haven't done that so I can't say firsthand...

Another thing is more Hondas these days are equipped with a hot-wire air flow sensor in the airfilter housing. You need to be careful to NOT over-oil a K&N filter so you don't get oil deposition on that sensor.
