Leaking Trunk

Has anyone ever heard of Accords (1993) having issues with a wet trunk?

My gasket is good around it. It just gets wet in no particular pattern. I have even resorted to getting in the trunk and having the wife just drench it with a hose and I see nothing.

But it pretty much stays moist (at a minimum).

Any suggestions?

Thanks All,

Marty

RE: Leaking Trunk

I'm going through the same thing now with my '87--I found 3" of water in the spare tire well. I pulled everything out of the trunk and checked the gasket during a rainstorm but couldn't see any leaks. I did see a couple drops of water dripping from the brake light assembly gaskets and replaced those, but that isn't the main source of the leak.

I did see a rectangular "vent" in the left side if the trunk, with what looks like a one way rubber flapper valve (to vent air out of the trunk?), and it looked like water was leaking into the trunk around it's edges. I'll check this out this weekend.

The vent in the rear of the trunk is intended to vent out moisture even tho it still acts as a 2 way door. Im going to end up punching mine out and welding a plate over it considering my second battery is sitting right next to it...............

yea the vent is where i would look. if it stops sealing correctly then water would be allowed to enter when it shouldnt.

I've got a '93 with the same problem. I'll check out that vent and see if a quick Duck Tape fix will stop it and then figure out a more permanent solution if that is indeed the problem. For now, cleaning all the nasty carpet and mildew out will be my first task... it's so gross.

I'll put an update here when I make some headway.
