Misfire at 4000 revs

I am new to the group and have a problem with my manual 2001 Accord(2000cc). I have hunted throughthe site but cant find reference to this problem.

The car has done 110000 miles and the engine light is on(orange light with a the piccie of an engine).

The light stays on now but up until recently the light would be on for acouple of days and then go out for a week or two.

More serioulsyl from my point of view if I take the car up to 4000 revs the engine seems to lose power/responsiveness but the rev counter seems to stay at 4000 revs. If i then back off the accelerator the power comes back after a couple of seconds.

ANy help much appreciated.

RE: Misfire at 4000 revs

yea your car is not revving up because of your check engine light. thats not just a light it means that there is a problem with your motor that needs to be addressed. if you fix whatever is setting the light off, then i would wager that your motor will rev just fin after that.

it might be the valve or engine compression problem. take your car to a mechanic or honda specialist and get it diagnosed. lightshow is right, if they shop can figure out why the light comes on then you'll be able to take care of the problem. (btw: that's a really high milage for a 2001, my '97 only has 90k)
