RE: Need a motor
Did you mean H22 by "22"?
Either the H22 or F20B is pretty much a direct drop in. Requires some re-wiring of the engine bay and a new ecu. Gonna need a header, one for an H22 will work for the F20B. |
RE: Need a motor
yea h22 well the wiring well i have a choice between the 2 i got the complete swap just need to decide between the two
im leaning towards the 22 i just dont trust the h series as much i think the f series is more reliable in the long run |
RE: Need a motor
to make this more black and white.
Reliability: about the same Cost: about the same (sometimes) Economy: Who cares we're looking for power Ease of Implementation: H22 (lots more documentation on it) My choice: H22 |
RE: Need a motor
the h22 and f20b are for all intents and purposes pretty much the same thing, most of the bolt on parts are interchangable(header IM things like that).
the H22 does have a bigger bore, and stroke however, and makes more torque, so to me its a no brainer..........h22 hands down. |
RE: Need a motor
F20B - better bottom end reliability. Wiring should be the same as an OBD2 H22.

RE: Need a motor
I really think its wat u really want..
one hand u have a jdm f20b parts are hard to get but most parts u can get from a h22... h22 more torque h22 specifications Bore × Stroke: 87.0 × 90.70 mm Displacement: 2157 cc (132 cu. in.) Valve Configuration: DOHC, 16 valves, VTEC Type: In-line 4 cylinder, aluminum block and head Compression ratio: 10.0:1 (North America); 10.6–11.0:1 (Japan) Max power: 190PS/187hp (CD6 Accord); 200PS (BB1/4/6 Prelude SiR's); 220PS (Euro-R & Prelude Type-S) ;A7 220bhp DIN (Type-R)(142–164 kW) Max torque: 156–167 ft·lbf (207–217 Nm) Redline: 7600 rpm Rev Cut: 7800 rpm f20b Specifications Bore × Stroke: 85.0 × 88.0 mm Displacement: 1997 cc Valve Configuration: DOHC, 16 valves, VTEC Compression ratio: 11.0:1 Max power: 180-200 hp (134-149 kW) @ 7000 rpm Max torque: 141-144 ft·lbf (189 N m) @ 5500 rpm Yea the h22 has what 10-15 more pounds of torque wow dats cool but den resleeving the h22 n trying to work with it is a pain in da butt.. both engine's have the same compression ratio h22 has week insides.. f20b has iron walls. it has a better tranny short gears same horsepower as the h22 both are vtec. |
RE: Need a motor
Please use real english
For NA I'd go with the H22. For turbo, I'd go with the F20 and a head spacer gasket to lower the compression.. |

RE: Need a motor
The head spacer gasket just increases the volume when the piston is at TDC, lowering the compression.
