Need to Raise my Cars Idle

Does Anyone know how I can Raise my idle..... When Im in Neutral like at a stop light the car almost shuts off due from such a Low idle....I would like the car to always idle high around 1000rpm.

Oh, i have a 96 non-vtech F22

turn the adjuster screw on the throttle body counterclock wise ( assuming everything is ok ) it should raise the idle up ..Do not raise idle to high or engine will surge

What does it mean to surge?

Surging idle is when the idle doesn't stay constant but it goes up & down. Maybe 600 to 1500 over & over.

Why do you want it to idle high? 750 or 800 is where it should be. If you set it up to 1000 the idle control system might start fighting with it & that's what causes the surging.

Yeah,,,,I would like my idle around 800-1000.... right now when im at a stop light it dips and stays down at a Lousy 500-575 rpm...I just want a normal or slightly higher than normal idle...I have AEM pulley kit which i have been told may be a reason....I wish to keep my pulleys but want a higher idle too...

You might try setting your 'BASE' idle properly (I don't know what rpm), then resetting your ECU & letting it re-learn the idle.

Search for 'base idle' because I think I've written about it before.

UMMMM? Can i do that with a Greddy Engine Management system,,,,I ditched the stock ECU..?

I don't know. If it mimics stock but allows you to reprogram, you might be able to set the operating idle.

The base idle is low, like 500 or 600, when the IACV is unplugged.

Then you reset the ECU and let it relearn the idle control. A stock ECU will learn the behavior of the idle system by starting it & letting it warm up all without touching the gas pedal at all. If the Greddy ECU maintains that capability, then let it do it's thing.
