Non V-Tec_V-Tec Swap:
 

I have a 94' honda accord lx 4 dr and its a non v-tec. The motor in it has very high miles and was wondering if i bought a v-tec of the same year would everything bolt up and work properly or if not what would i have to change or what year would work? If the v-tec is not possible what year of non v-tec motors would work? Also how hard, time consuming and costly would it be to convert my car to a manual if i had the tranny?

Auto To manual conversion isn't to hard it's just expensive and time consuming, you need half shafts, center console, shifter, cables, linkages, clutch pedal, New TCM (tranny control) and one or two other parts.....

As for the non-vtec to vtec swap if you're doing just the head alone I don't know if it works or not, I'm guessing it does (if you're using a v-tec head from the same year) but have never gotten confirmation on this, if you're doing the whole motor it should bolt right up/go in.

Check out forum.pgmfi.org for more swap info and how to set up your ecu properly. I want to say if your installing a B1 head off of a F22B1 you should get either a P0A ecu (vtec manual) or a P0B (vtec auto) from a junkyard.

Also, sir_nasty, a manual tranny shouldn't need a TCU since the gearshifts are controlled by the driver and not a servo.

If you are planning to do a swap anyway, why not just drop an H22 in there?

Yeah i was waiting for someone to say not to go VTEC, since iv been hearing alot of "Its pointless"
