The CYP sensor is down in the distributor. It's not available separately, so you gotta buy a distributor. Not real cheap, so you should look for flaky wiring or loose connections first. Start with the big multi-pin plug at the distributor. I don't have my wiring drawing nearby, so I can't tell you what color wire to follow.

I changed my distributor and ignion starter or w/e. a few months ago...
is it possible the guy that did it messed it up? or screwed up the wiring..

Sure it's always possible that he screwed it up. It's possible that parts of the wiring plugs have corroded, or mice chewed up some wires. But you can't really blame your mechanic with any certainty until you find some specific damage to your wiring.

Take off your distributor cap & look inside. If there's rust-colored dust in there, then maybe the distributor shaft bearing isn't lubricated. Did he put in a NEW distributor or maybe a used one?
