oil from distributor after fixing head gasket
 

I just replaced the head gasket on my 93 accord and i replaced the valve cover gasket, sparkplug tube seals , intake and exhaust manifold gasket and the o ring on the distributor and when the car is running milky oil is dripping from the distributor cap ... i replaced the oil after fixing the head gasket.. so it shouldnt be milky still .. is this just old oil and moisture thats making its way out or should i redo the o ring in distributor ?

Leaky distributor O-ring would leak down the side of the head. NOT from the distributor cap. Something left over inside the distributor??? Sounds kinda strange - not related to headgasket.

its actually dripping right between the cap and the dist rotor housing not from the base of the dist that is against the head.. its actually inside the rotor itself

There's a seal where the distributor shaft spins within the distributor body. When that leaks, it lets engine oil into the distributor body, where it eventually leaks out right where you said.

But that would be engine oil, so I'm not sure about the "milky" oil?? Is the oil in the engine milky? If so, change oil a couple times to get rid of all the residual moisture.

The official story about that distributor shaft seal, is that you have to buy a new distributor. A couple people have figured out how to replace just the seal, but I don't know the details. Search around here... General Tech or maybe DIY.

thanks , i will go ahead and open the distributor and see if i can figure it out cause if i break it i'll just buy a new one anyways lol

IIRC, the problem is removing the CYP, CKP, & TDC sensors from inside the distributor, without damaging them.

Once you do that, search these boards for a source & part # for the seal. Honda dealers will not have it; someplace like a bearing-supply distributor.

Yeah I had oil leaking from my distributor also, I took the distributor off and did a quick fix, I just took a socket that was a little bit smaller then the seal and just hit it a couple of times to expand the seal to make it a tight fit. It hasn't leaked since. You basically had to take the whole distributor apart to do it though. It's not that hard. Just be sure you put some kind of markings on everything to make sure you get them lined up right. It really wasn't that hard. i had a similar problem, i changed the gasket but got a "professional" to do work on the head, skim, new cam seal, new spark plug well seal, tune valve clearance. they screwed up everything, cam seal got broken, spark plug well seals wernt even circular when we had to pull the head apart again, valves wernt adjusted properly... anyway, it was leaking from the distributor, at first we just thought it was the shaft seal, we replaced it and it still happened. we found out when they put the head back together, the bearing right near the distributor has a little oil gallery, and there are two s bends carved into the bearing housing, which allowed the oil to drain out, but they were completely filled up with silicon. so the oil from the bearing at like 40 psi or something filled up the gallery then just went straight out the distributor after pushing out the seal. this may be of some help to you. although since then it has a miss fire so we arnt sure if we put the sensors in the correct way. im about to go pull it apart and check them.
