overheating
Hi, I'm new to this site and have a couple of problems with my 2004 accord I4. First off it has a little over 92,000 miles. The problem is that sometimes when im waiting in trafficthe car will start to overheat, but only when it is not moving, once it starts moving it starts to cool down even with the ac on. I also have notived that it seems to lag a little when taking off from a stop, don't know if this could be something that is happening because of the car overheating? I change the oil every 3000-4000 miles with royal purple synthetic motor oil and use premium gas. I dont know what could be the problem so I wanted to see if anyone else has had thisproblemwith their accord before I take it to the dealer to get checked out. Thanks.

RE: overheating
is your cooling fan coming on? not the ac fan. the other one.

RE: overheating
Checked that yesterday. Drove the car a few miles, then let it sit on for about 10 minutes and looked to see if the fan turned on but it never did, so that might be the problem. Thanks.

RE: overheating
Also, don't waste your money on premium gas. Use the fuel recommended in the owners manual (likely 87 Octane, but check to be sure.)
If your car was made to run on 87 octane, premium will not help things any - besides emptying your wallet quicker. |
RE: overheating
good call.
[sm=icon_ladiesman.gif] premium gas is a waste, unless your car calls for it. |

RE: overheating
yeah I know it doesnt make a difference, its just I put premium in my other 2 cars which call for premium so I figure ehh 1 more car wont hurt lol, it's not a gas guzzler like the cadi. Thanks though.

RE: overheating
will check the spark plugs, tried to check them the other day when I checked the fan, but my little bro took some of my tools to a friends house because they are workingon one of their friends civic so I dont have any of my sockets or socket wrenches, hopefully by this weekend. I'll let you know, thanks.
